Drain repairs, excavation & patch lining in Portobello
Need drain repairs & excavation in Portobello? PK Plumbing covers drain unblocking, jetting and CCTV surveys across Portobello, Musselburgh and Leith with clear pricing and guaranteed workmanship.
Working in Portobello and nearby Musselburgh and Leith, we see homes and properties week in, week out. Mixed housing ages mean boiler sizing, drain method and access planning vary job by job. That local repetition helps on landlord repairs, certificates, and tidy work in finished rooms — we diagnose on site rather than guessing from a postcode. On drain repairs & excavation jobs we rod, jet or camera the line first — repeat blockages in Portobello usually need proof, not another quick clear.
Excavation isn’t “dig until we find it” — we correlate CCTV, chamber checks and levels first. Teams in Portobello and Musselburgh, Leith, and Joppa scope trenches to the defective length only.
Why choose us
We’re chosen in Portobello when clears aren’t sticking — cracked clay, displaced joints and short collapses need repair, not another jet ticket.
When you need structural drain repair in Portobello
We keep digs as small as the defect allows and reinstate paths, paving or turf properly — not a trench that sits open for weeks. You get a written scope before we open ground, and testing on completion so you know the line runs.
Lining isn’t universal: sometimes a short dig is cheaper, safer or more honest. We’ll tell you which option matches your pipe material, depth and insurance expectations.
Common questions in Portobello
- Can you attend same day for emergencies in Portobello?
- We prioritise genuine emergencies — major leaks, burst pipes, and total loss of heating or hot water. Call for an honest arrival window. We also cover Musselburgh and Leith on the same basis.
- Are quotes clear before you start in Portobello?
- We give written scopes for planned work upfront. For diagnostic jobs we explain what is included before we start so you can decide — no vague "turn up and see" pricing. We also cover Musselburgh and Leith on the same basis.
- Do you use CCTV on blocked drains in Portobello?
- Yes — when a blockage keeps returning or the cause is not obvious, we camera the line so you get proof before major work. We also cover Musselburgh and Leith.
- Can you jet drains in Portobello, not just rod them?
- We carry high-pressure jetting kit with the right nozzles for kitchen waste, soil pipes and yard lines — rods alone are not always enough. We also cover Musselburgh and Leith.
- Are your engineers Gas Safe registered for work in Portobello?
- All gas boiler repair, installation and servicing is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. We will show registration on request and leave paperwork where required. We also cover Musselburgh and Leith on the same basis.
Typical work we see in Portobello
- Repeat routes through Portobello mean we recognise common fault patterns and bring sensible parts first visit.
- Gas Safe discipline, tidy reinstatement, and clear paperwork — especially on homes where access is tight.
- Boiler breakdowns, hidden leaks, blocked drains and heating that will not balance — honest quotes before we open floors or walls.
Clearance first — repair when the pipe is damaged
This page is about excavation, patch repairs and lining after we know what’s wrong. If you’re fully blocked today, our blocked drain team in Portobello can restore flow as a separate emergency job — then we book repair with a proper scope.
Most repair quotes follow CCTV in Portobello so we’re not guessing underground. High-pressure drain jetting in Portobello clears soft blockages but doesn’t fix cracks or collapsed short lengths.
